Hi. I'm Allena...

I first discovered yoga in 2010 when seeking ways to cope with anxiety and depression. Over the years, my weekly yoga practice evolved into a daily ritual and it continues to support not only my mental health, but my overall well-being. My mission is to inspire beginner yogis to explore their inner landscape through conscious breath and movement in order to deepen their relationship with self. For me, yoga is an ever evolving practice, a learning experience, and an opportunity to connect to"the big picture".

Allena completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Awakened Spirit Yoga in March 2021 and was attuned as a Level 2 Usui Reiki practicioner in July 2021. She has obtained a BS and M.Ed. from Concord University and has worked in the public school  and higher education settings since 2013. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and camping with her husband, and spending time with her turtle and two cats. 🐢🐈🐈‍⬛

What is Yoga?

"Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self." -The Bhagavad Gita

The word 'Yoga' comes from the Sanskrit root 'Yuj', meaning 'to yoke' or 'union'.  More specifically, to unify the body, mind, and spirit. Yoga helps us find this unity and balance through connection of physical asanas (poses) with the breath.

Experiencing yoga not only challenges us to look beyond the illusion that there is separation between the body, mind, and spirit, but it also challenges us to bring awareness to the separateness that we place between ourselves and others.  It is the separation (or rejection) of self and others that contributes to our suffering.

Putting yogic principles into practice helps us embrace the wholeness of the human experience, leaving us feeling less fragmented and present with our true nature. Below are additional benefits that can result from cultivating a yoga practice.
